Software requirements

To follow the these classes, you will use use R and RStudio, and will need to bring your own laptop (not a tablet).

You have 2 options:

Option 1 | Use RStudio Server provided in class (preferred option)

  • Connect to the Eduroam network at UAlg.

  • Open your favorite browser and access the web address provided in class.

  • Login with the Computational Biology credentials provided to you in class.

  • NOTE | If you need to access the RStudio Server from outside the university, you must turn on the VPN.

    • Install the university’s VPN first (if not already installed) from https://www.ualg.pt/suporte-informatico.
    • Follow the instructions in: “Como aceder remotamente à UAlg? Como posso configurar a VPN?”.
    • Turn the VPN on (using your student credentials: student number and password).
    • Access the web address (provided in class) and login with the Computational Biology credentials provided to you in class.
